Tennis Car Parking

For many years St Mary’s has offered car parking spaces in the field adjacent to the churchyard to people attending the annual All-England Club Tennis Championships. This has proved especially helpful to people queueing along St Mary’s Road and Arthur Road, for whom we have also made space on the field for lavatory blocks provided by the All-England Club.

The Club have announced that from this year they will operate only a single queue, which will be based in Wimbledon Park towards the north end of the ground. There will be no overnight queue alongside our field. In consequence of this the Club will not be providing lavatory facilities on the field.

St Mary’s will still offer car parking spaces and hope that many of our long-established customers who are ticket-holders will continue to come to us. They should be aware, however, that neither lavatory facilities nor the refreshment stall (which we had to discontinue last year because of changes that had already been made to queue management) will be available. We will not be providing overnight car-parking this year, since those who wish to queue through the night will be better advised to use the Club’s car park in Wimbledon Park.

The field will be open from 9:00am to 10:00pm daily throughout the Championships. The charge for parking on our field will remain for the third year at £20. Proceeds from this operation make a valuable contribution to the Church and the Diocese. We look forward to welcoming both our regular guests and others whom we have not seen before.
