St Mary's at home cookbook

We are currently taking orders for a reprint of the St Mary's at home Cookbook - our community cookery book containing 120 recipes plus local photographs, drawings and reflections all contributed by members of our congregation.


Services now online only

The Mayor of London declared a major incident in London yesterday because of the very high levels of Covid 19 and the imminent risk of the NHS being overwhelmed. He also asked the Government to change the lockdown regulations to prohibit public worship in London.

The Church Wardens and I now believe that we should suspend public worship in St Mary's from today until the end of January. We will revert to our lockdown pattern of worship with a service at 10am on Zoom and Facebook, and Evensong at 6.30pm on Zoom and Youtube.

Warrior Chapel Centenary

The Warrior Chapel at St Mary's was dedicated in January 1921. Due to the pandemic, the planned celebration service could not go ahead, but we have shared various documents about its history to mark the occasion.

Services in January

Sunday services continue as normal at 8am, 9:30am, 11:15am and 6:30pm despite London being in Tier 4. The 9:30am and 6:30pm services will also be streamed via Zoom and Facebook / YouTube.

For those joining online, the order of service and weekly readings and news sheets (with hymn words) can be downloaded.

When visiting church in person, please remember to keep your distance, wear a face covering and to stay at home if you have COVID-19 symptoms.

Our buddy scheme is still in operation so if you do become unwell or if you are self-isolating and need help do get in touch with Mandy or Nils and we will arrange some support. If you are feeling low or would just like a chat remember that Nils and Mandy are always happy to talk - please just get in touch.

Changes to Christmas Services

The latest COVID-19 circumstances have meant we have revised our Christmas Services. There will now be an online Crib Service at 2pm on Christmas Eve instead of the Journey to the Crib. Our Christmas Services page has all the latest details.

In line with government restrictions, we will not be holding any of our regular services in church from Thursday 5th November. Instead we will have services on Zoom at 10am and 6:30pm each Sunday. Services will resume in church from 3rd December.

Annual Church Meeting

Our St Mary's Annual Church Meeting (ACM) will be held on Wednesday 4th November at 8:15pm by Zoom videoconference. The details and papers for the meeting are now available.


St Mary's at home cookbook

Our new cookbook is now available to order until 6th November. It contains 120 recipes all contributed by members of the congregation.


Electoral Roll

If you are not on our electoral roll and would like to be added (and are eligible), please download an application form in either PDF or Word format and return it to the Parish Office. Forms can be completed and sent electronically or in hard copy.


Services in church resuming as usual

We are now back in church on every Sunday as usual at 8am, 9:30am, 11:15am and 6:30pm. You no longer need to book to come.

We are also continuing our online services. Members of our church can join the 9:30am and 6:30pm services via Zoom using the usual link sent by email. Alternatively, the 9:30am service will be streamed on our Facebook page and the 6:30pm service on our YouTube channel.

Services Restarting and Online Church

We are now back in church on Sunday morning and during the week for Morning and Evening Prayer. You will need to book in advance to come on a Sunday. We are also continuing our online services which you can access either live at 10am on our Facebook page or at 6:30pm on our YouTube channel.

Update on Malawi Mission Action Plan project

There were presentations of St Mary's support for work in Malawi in each of the services on the last Sunday before lockdown in March. We have now received an update from USPG about the programme we are supporting in Malawi. Here is a short video to watch about the work on improving education of girls. Church re-opening

The church is now open for private prayer between 9:15am and 5pm Monday to Saturday, and between 12pm and 5pm on Sundays.

We are now also open for public services on Sunday mornings and you would be very welcome. If you would like to come, you will need to book a place through My ChurchSuite. If you are not already registered, it will be necessary to submit your details via our ChurchSuite Membership software. You will be guided through the process. We look forward to meeting you although at a socially acceptable distance!

Bells for Grenfell

On Sunday 14 June at 6pm, St Mary's Church will join more than 100 churches across London including Southwark Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral to ring their bells in memory of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire on the third anniversary of the tragedy.
